How to decorate your garden: ideas and tips

How to furnish a garden? This question could actually have hundreds of answers, all equally correct, because there are so many variables at play.

Let's think, for example, about the dimensions of the available space, its composition, the presence or absence of a swimming pool, whether or not you want to create a small vegetable garden, whether you have a fixed or mobile roof, the  budget available, the age of the family members, and so on.

Therefore, There's no definitive solution, and there's no right or wrong choice, but it's undoubtedly possible to follow a guideline, some indications that help you furnish your garden by optimizing what you have available and avoiding some beginner mistakes.

Here's a practical guide, full of ideas and advice, to follow to furnish your garden like a pro.

1. Furnishing the garden: what is the plan?

The first question to answer is the following: What do you want to achieve with your garden?

In short, What do we want to do with this space we have?

It may seem trivial, but if we plan to install a swimming pool, whether in-ground or above ground, it means that we need to dedicate a portion of the garden to that purpose. and all around it, you need to add essential furnishings and accessories for enjoying a nice bath (deckchair, shower, cleaning tools, etc.).

If, however, we want to transform it into a relaxation room, an extension of the living room, where we can spend many hours during the warmer months or on sunny days, then we should focus on garden furniture, such as armchairs, sofas, coffee tables, barbecues, ovens, and children's games, data-mce-fragment="1"> hammocks, swings, and so on.

Maybe we have a green thumb and we want to use the garden to plant trees, plants, flowers, create a small vegetable garden, therefore we will need a tool shed, gardening tools, small enclosures, and so on.

In short, Let's carefully evaluate the intended use of the garden, and act accordingly.

2. Paving

With the exception of areas that we may allocate for the cultivation and growth of plants and trees, the rest of the surface could also be covered, also to prevent the constant growth of weeds and increase the level of maintenance required.

We are certainly not suggesting tiling the garden or pouring concrete; instead, we could opt for two solutions:

  • synthetic grass, more or less tall, by laying afake lawn (like this) or by placing on the lawn or ground some interlocking tiles made of resistant plastic covered with synthetic grass, made of ecological, fireproof, soft and elastic materials, very easy to assemble and disassemble, with minimal maintenance. You can find them here  here;
  • outdoor flooring, also choosing from  interlocking tiles, made of wood or plastic, which guarantee a beautiful aesthetic result, especially if you place good-quality garden furniture on them.

By creating paved areas,  you reduce the time and effort of having to mow the lawn periodically and make it easier to arrange the furniture you intend to add to the garden.

3. Garden Furniture

Now let's get to the actual garden furniture, that is, furniture designed to be placed outdoors.

This furniture must have two characteristics:

  1. they must be  aesthetically pleasing;
  2. must be made ofweather-resistant materials. The material of choice for garden furniture israttan.

Here is an example of garden furniture that combines these two characteristics: a splendid outdoor lounge set for sale in our store (you can find it here).

Another truly original solution, perfect especially in a more modern setting, is this Set of four rattan chairs, truly beautiful.

If you want to create a small romantic corner, we recommend this Metal bench with a hole to accommodate an umbrella.

All that's missing is a glass of wine and the moonlight.

4. Covering

To fully enjoy your garden, and in particular a beautiful outdoor lounge area, we recommend choosing a type of cover that offers protection from the sun and bad weather.

In the absence of a fixed cover, gazebos are undoubtedly an excellent solution, such as this, also equipped with a practical mosquito net.

Depending on the space available, size, budget, and personal taste,  there are truly countless solutions. We invite you to consult thesection dedicated to gazebos on our online store.

5. Oven and barbecue

The garden is the perfect place to organize a nice spring or summer barbecue, especially on weekends and during special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, promotions at work, and so on.

So, a barbecue is a must!

There are so many options that listing them all would be impossible, so we invite you to consult the dedicated section here, but if we had to recommend one it would probably be this wonderful Weber barbecue, equipped with 4 gas burners with electric ignition and two very spacious side shelves wide.

With this product you can organize magnificent barbecues, but if your needs are less demanding, you can always opt for other smaller and more economical models.

But if you have enough space available and a passion for good food, Why limit yourself to the barbecue? Why not also buy a very convenient wood-fired oven, where you can prepare pizzas, bread, focaccia, roasts and much more, like this splendid product Fountain?

This oven is equipped with a practical trolley for easy movement, chimney with rain cover, two grates, two cooking pans, thermometer and minute minder.

What do you need?

  • one or more sun loungers;
  • one or more beach or garden umbrellas with a support base.

Obviously, you'll also need everything you need for ordinary and extraordinary cleaning and maintenance of your pool. In this regard, we invite you to read our article "How to Clean Your Pool: Here's How to Proceed."

9. Furnishing the garden for children

If there are children in the family, the garden is destined to become their kingdom, where they can spend hours of fun and relaxation, as long as it is furnished with them in mind.

For example, why not set up a super fun inflatable, such as this?

In the relaxation section, we recommended purchasing a swing, so why not get one for the kids too?

What if they wanted to draw a picture or have a healthy snack? There's a need for a nice little table suitable for them, such as this.

Let's not forget how important sportis for the little ones. So, how could we miss a  nice portable basketball hoop?

Finally,  if the space available is large enough, nothing would make them happier than a  trampoline like this.

Not enough space? Don't worry, there are also smaller solutions (here).
