Efficiency and savings
The objective of a heat generator is to provide the energy necessary for the rooms to maintain conditions of maximum comfort inside: this means providing the rooms, through the system, with the same quantity of heat that the building disperses . In newly constructed buildings, regulations increasingly require greater insulation and consequently less dispersion. Traditionally, there is a tendency to oversize heat generators to favor the production of domestic water: this leads to an excess of heating power which, together with the poor modulation capacity of traditional boilers, leads to discontinuous operation and therefore waste of fuel. Discontinuous processes generate energy losses (heat dispersion caused by pre-washing of the combustion chamber, wear of components caused by continuous on-off, decrease in generator efficiency). The modulation system of the Platinum+ range is able to adapt the thermal power produced to the actual power dissipated by the building, avoiding excessive overheating/cooling of the rooms.

Reduction of on-off cycles
The graph shown above highlights the reduction in on/off cycles that distinguishes the new Platinum+ boilers with modulation up to 1:10 compared to a condensing boiler with lower modulation. The reduction of on/off determines an improvement in the efficiency of the boiler and consequently a considerable saving for the end user. Standard condensing boilers, however, with a limited modulation range, work at a minimum power level above 6 kW; this allows it to avoid on/off cycles for only 3% of the heating operation period, compromising the performance of the boiler and the life of the components.
The electronics and the gas valve with stepper motor with which the new Platinum+ boilers are equipped guarantee automatic combustion control which is based on:
- on the flame signal
GAC via the flame signal
The system continuously measures the flame signal during boiler operation and adjusts the gas flow rate in order to maintain constant combustion quality and all this without requiring any additional component inside the combustion chamber.
Installers and end users benefit from the following advantages of GAC:
- The automatic combustion control helps reduce installation times as no manual adjustment of the gas valve or nozzle change is required: in fact, it is sufficient to manually modify some parameters of the electronic board for operation with LPG
- The boiler self-adapts to the quality of the gas and the length of the flue gas outlets: this means that there are no manual adjustments to make
- High modulation range 1:10: high efficiency and savings, as such a wide modulation range determines greater adaptability of the boiler to the heat losses of the building to obtain higher efficiency and greater durability of the components. The reduction of on/off cycles, in addition to greater efficiency, guarantees less noise produced by the boiler
- Unlike traditional condensing boilers, the boiler always works regulated at maximum efficiency values, favoring a reduction in gas consumption and consequently a lower environmental impact thanks to the control of CO/CO emissions
