This is a very important directive established by the European Union and is at the same time a decisive path that will lead the whole of Europe to reduce pollution and improve the lives of citizens. The ErP directive (2009/125/EC) - the acronym stands for "Energy Related Products" - sets very precise reference points for the manufacturing of eco-compatible products and defines the mandatory minimum requirements of energy and environmental performance for instruments that consume energy. The goal is to reach the famous 20-20-20 by 2020. This repetition of the number 20 serves to more easily remind everyone of the three central purposes of the legislation:

• INCREASE THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF ENERGY CONSUMPTING MACHINES BY 20%

• REDUCE CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) EMISSIONS IN THE ATMOSPHERE BY 20%
