Galletti ART-U fan coil Design-led innovation
From Galletti's great experience in the development and design of fan coils and in confirmation of his continuous search for innovation, the new ART-U was born, the result of a perfect combination of performance and design. The objective achieved by this project is absolutely ambitious: a new and unique product, not yet present on the market, which on the one hand is able to respond to the increasingly stringent demands in terms of energy efficiency, and on the other meets for the first time time the recent furnishing and interior design trends.
With the new ART-U, Galletti completely achieves this objective, presenting on the market a new concept of hydronic terminal, a product which is characterized by its enviable technical performances and at the same time represents a real stylistic shift, in a sector which is now accustomed for too long to products that are very similar to each other
ART-U, with its depth which in some points reaches just 10 cm, and thanks to its unique lines, was conceived to be an absolutely transversal product, which adapts perfectly both to rigorous and essential environments, and to more warm and sophisticated. Thanks also to the possibility of customizing the front panel, ART-U satisfies the demand for ever greater customization of the spaces to be furnished
The achievement of very high aesthetic standards has not weakened the usual constructive virtuosity of Galletti products: the search for innovation has in fact also focused on components and the use of new materials. With ART-U the state of the art has also been redefined in terms of technical performance, thanks to the use of computational fluid dynamics simulations for the optimization of heat exchange inside the terminal combined with the use of permanent magnet electric motors
Design furniture
The elegant front panel is made up of two aluminum sheets with a polyethylene core and possible polyester-based surface painting. It is a light but very resistant material, created for facade cladding in the building sector. The side panels are in UV stabilized ABS to keep the color unchanged over time. The polyethylene core acts as a flexible filling and thermal insulator while the aluminum gives structure and aesthetics
Conveyors
Made of high density polystyrene. They are designed to optimize the aeraulic flow inside the hydronic terminal, allowing optimal distribution of the air flow in the battery and silence at every operating speed
Upper grill
Made up of adjustable fins in anodized aluminium, available in versions for on-board or wall-mounted control. The ABS combs, which support the grids, prevent them from bending, always guaranteeing the safety of the user
Electric motor
Permanent magnet BLDC motor with inverter integrated in the ventilation unit. The IP54 protection degree is guaranteed, therefore dust access to the inside is prevented and resistance to water splashes is guaranteed
Tangential fan
Statically and dynamically balanced tangential fan to reduce operating noise. The plastic material used for the blades guarantees, compared to metal fans, a reduction in vibrations and the absence of bending along the rotation axis. The blades are interspersed with intermediate reinforcement discs in order to increase their robustness
Heat exchange batteries
High efficiency turbulence in copper tube and aluminum fins, is equipped with brass manifolds and vent valve. The hydrophilic treatment is applied as standard on the fins, to increase their cooling effectiveness and at the same time greater resistance to aggressive atmospheres. The hydraulic connections are reversible during installation. On request it is possible to mount an additional battery for 4-pipe systems

Computational fluid dynamics simulations
Model
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a method that uses numerical analysis to solve fluid dynamics problems using computers. For the ART-U project, a discretized computing domain was considered by means of a polyhedral computing grid (mesh) made up of 12 million cells. The mesh features a refinement extended to the entire rotor area to best reproduce the vorticity created in this area
Air flow field
During the initial development phase of the ART-U project the calculation showed recirculations of the fluid downstream of the rotor in different areas, with consequent pressure losses
Flow Lines
The flow lines show how the trajectory of the fluid threads inside the unit does not have a uniform distribution. For this reason, the research also focused on improving the distribution of air along the longitudinal axis of the fan, minimizing wall effects. The results of these simulations allowed an optimization of the geometry of the internal conveyor and the orientation of the finned coil
